I was recently diagnosed with RSD after I had suregry on my left foot on June 7th, 2010, it is extremely painful. I have taken many different painkillers but nothing works. It prevents me from getting a proper sleep. I am starting physio next week and really hope they can help me. I came looking for information on this condition because until now I had never heard of it. If anyone has any suggestions of things I can do to relieve the pain please post it, I am willing to try anything.

My daughter has just been diagnosed by a rheumotiod doctor as having RSD of her left hand following a physical examination. She was told to get physio and to see a pain specialist. There was no mention of a triphasic scan as a diagnostic confrimation. She is experiencing pain in her right hand and it is also, as the left, swollen at times. Her initial problem started as abdominal pain 1.5 yrs ago. Bilateral lower leg pain started 8 months ago which continued up to include both thighs and her pelvis. In March this year, both arms started experiencing tingling, numbness and pain. Her left hand is the biggest problem at the moment with pain, swelling and limited motion. You made reference to total body RSD. The neurologist says that isn't possible but I don't understand why it couldn't be. Has someone made reference to you as this condition exists? Who is the Toronto doctor that diagnosed you? It would be nice to have her seen by someone who actually is familiar with this awful condition and may be able to offer her appropriate help.

Thank you for your comments!

I have been suffering with chronic pain for almost 8 yrs now. I have just recently been diagnosed with RSD. I've had Carpal Tunnel surgery as well as Ulnar Nerve surgery and way too many cortizone injections. So many different treatments & incorrect diagnosis'. Both of my arms are now pretty much useless. My life has been completely turned around by this disease. It completely controls my life as much as I try not to let it. I know there are so many people that are worst off than myself and I feel for them. I cannot imagine how people with full body RSD manage. I cannot fathom the idea of having the pain I have in my arms everywhere in my body. I pray & hope daily for a cure for this monster of a disease. I live in Iroquois Falls ON, it is in the Timmins area. Our medical profession is very ignorant of this disease & it's symptoms. I had to go finally go to Toronto to get correctly diagnosed and now hopefullly some treatment options will be successfull. I'm soooo tired of taking pills. Oxycodone, Oxycontin, Lyrica, Efexr, B12, Vitamin E, now blood pressure issues will also be treated with more pills. RSD = Really Sucks Disease!

I hope to meet some people in this forum, especially if from my area, to talk to... people who really know what I'm going through. And I would really like to be there for others who are going through the same. Take Care all & be blessed with minimal pain & High Spirits!
